Nakano Note (Nakano wa Kangaeru noda) NK 2006R C/1987 U3 (McNaught)

The following improved orbital elements, by S. Nakano, are from 94 observations 1986 Dec. 21 to 1988 Apr. 19. Perturbations by Mercury to Neptune and three minor planets, Ceres, Pallas and Vesta, and Non-gravitational effects of STYLE II were taken into account. The mean residual is +/- 1.07 arc seconds. The comet has passed 2.92 AU from Jupiter on 1989 May 2 UT. Pre-discovery observations were found by M. Meyer. See an orbit on HICQ 1988 by Nakano and an orbit on MPC 14903 by T. Kobayashi.
