Nakano Note (Nakano wa Kangaeru noda) NK 2166 C/2011 Q4 (SWAN)

The following improved orbital elements, by S. Nakano, are from 115 observations 2011 Sept. 4 to Nov. 26. Perturbations by Mercury to Neptune and three minor planets, Ceres, Pallas and Vesta, were taken into account. The mean residual is +/- 0.44 arc second. RunOff values for 2011 Nov. 23 observations by Hidetaka Sato were -2" for R. A. and +10" for Decl. from a starting orbit, who writes "the comet was moderately condensed with a coma of 100" in diameter. and no obvious tail was imaged". Approximate computation shows the comet has passed 2.37 AU from Jupiter on 2010 Nov. 29 and 3.13 AU from Saturn on 1739 Oct. 6 UT and the previous T= around 1737.
