Nakano Note (Nakano wa Kangaeru noda) NK 3859 39P/Oterma

The following improved orbital elements, by S. Nakano, are from 170 observations 1946-2019. Perturbations by Mercury to Neptune and three minor planets, Ceres, Pallas and Vesta, were taken into account. The mean residual is +/- 1.04 arc seconds. Comet was discovered in 1943. Before 1946 observations show the residuals off 3" to 5" from this linked orbit. Residuals recovery observations in 2019 were -6".5 mainly for Right Ascension from the prediction in NK 810 (= MPC 43334) with the delta-T correction = +0.031 day. The 2001 observations were not well matched with 2019 recovery observations. They were occured the residuals of +9" for Right Ascension and +4" for Declination. The comet has passed 0.095 AU from Jupiter on 1963 Apr. 12.4 UT. So that orbit was significant changed. Also comet has passed 1.01 AU from Saturn on 2011 June 3 UT. Minor planet 1950 CR (Goethe Link) was identified by Nakano (NK 447, MPC 8695). See the previous orbits in NK 318 (1978 ephemeris), NK 381 & NK 400 (1983 prediction), NK 447 and NK 810 (= MPC 43334).
