Nakano Note (Nakano wa Kangaeru noda) NK 4548 P/2021 Q5 (ATLAS)

The following improved orbital elements, by S. Nakano, are from 161 observations 2021 Aug. 29 to Sept. 26. Perturbations by Mercury to Neptune and three minor planets, Ceres, Pallas and Vesta, were taken into account. The mean residual is +/- 0.54 arc second. Period is still uncertainty within +/- one week or more, so that the close approaches below are necessary uncertainty. But this orbit shows comet has made a close approach 0.036 AU to Jupiter on 2019 Jan. 4 UT, before this approach comet had an orbit of T= 2010 Feb. 11, q= 3.194 AU, e= 0.372, Peri.= 122.5, Node= 246.2, i= 11.5, a= 5.088 AU, P= 11.5 years. Also comet will pass 0.028 AU from Jupiter on 2030 Sept. 19 UT, after this approach comet will have an orbit of T= 2036 June 5, q= 2.292, e= 0.448, Peri.= 19.5, Node= 70.8, i= 5.6, a= 4.154 AU, P= 8.47 years.
