OAA computing section circular NK 926 P/2003 F2 (NEAT) [= P/2001 BB50 (LINEAR-NEAT), Same Parent Comet ?] See NK 926R
The following improved orbital elements, by S. Nakano, are from only 59 observations 2003 Mar. 27 to Apr. 7. The mean residual is +/- 0.63 arc second. There are three comets who have similar angular elements. One is C/1931 AN, who has different q, but the integrated orbit from my initail solution of P/2003 F2 showed small residuals (within 2-3 degrees) for the positions of C/1931 AN. But unfortunately the integrated orbit from a new orbit of P/2003 F2 leaves there. Another one is the possible parent identification of P/2001 BB50 = P/2003 F2. Two comets of P/2001 BB50 and P/2003 F2 were located within only 0.0162 AU on 1989 March 13. So that a parent comet seems to split there or near 1987 perihelion around that time. However their location was so far from Jupiter. Here are the past orbits in 1987 of P/2001 BB50 and P/2003 F2. After this split, P/2001 BB50 didn't make a close approach to Jupiter within 1.0 AU. On the other hand, P/2003 F2 has made a close approach to Jupiter on 2001 August 29 until 0.92 AU.
