Nakano Note (Nakano wa Kangaeru noda) NK 3173 P/McNaught (2008 J3 = 2016 N1)
The following improved orbital elements, by S. Nakano, are from 198 observations 2008 to 2016. Perturbations by Mercury to Neptune and three minor planets, Ceres, Pallas and Vesta, were taken into account. The mean residual is +/- 0.95 arc second. The residuals of recovery observations were +544" for Right Ascension and +683" for Declination from the prediction in NK 2496 (= HICQ 2014) with the delta-T correction = -0.70 day. There seems to be the effects of non-gravitational effects in residuals. The comet has passed 1.04 AU from Saturn and 0.010 AU from Jupiter on 2000 June 10 and 2005 Feb. 3 UT, respectively. Then comet had a big orbit of P= 62 years (a= 15.66 AU). The previous Ts were 2004 March and 1947 September with orbit of q= 4.98 AU, e= 0.6821, Peri.= 128.89, Node= 23.90, Inc.= 6.72.
