Nakano Note (Nakano wa Kangaeru noda) NK 4257 39P/Oterma

The following improved orbital elements, by S. Nakano, are from 243 observations 1942 to 2020. The planetary perturbations by Mercury to Neptune and three minor planets, Ceres, Pallas, Vesta, and non-gravitational effect of sublimating molecule = CO (or N2) using Yabushita's theory (MN 283, 347) were taken into account. The weighting mean residual is +/- 0.71 arc second. The 1999 and 2001 observations were discordance with 2019 recovery observations and 2020 observations (See the residual block). Since comet has passed 0.095 AU from Jupiter on 1963 Apr. 12.3 UT, orbit was significant changed and passed 1.01 AU from Saturn on 2011 June 3 UT. Also comet will pass 0.89 AU from Jupiter on 2025 Jan. 15 UT. Minor planet 1950 CR (Goethe Link) was identified by Nakano (NK 447, MPC 8695).
