Nakano Note (Nakano wa Kangaeru noda) NK 5203 P/Leonard (2018 L5 = 2024 Hx)

The following improved orbital elements, by S. Nakano, are from 198 observations 2018 to 2024. Perturbations by Mercury to Neptune and three minor planets, Ceres, Pallas and Vesta, were taken into account. The mean residual is +/- 0.57 arc second. Recovery by Erwin Schwab. Residuals for recovery observations were +48" for Right Ascension and -12" for Declination from the prediction in NK 4854 (= CH 2024) with the delta-T correction = -0.054 day. The comet has passed 0.40 AU and 0.37 AU from Jupiter on 1978 July 19 and 2014 Sept. 25 UT, respectively. Before close approach in 2014, the comet had an orbit of T= 2010 04 09.84, q= 3.497, e= 0.177, Peri.=17.9, Node= 294.1, Inc.= 3.5, a= 4.250 AU, P= 8.76 years.
