Nakano Note (Nakano wa Kangaeru noda) NK 5246 P/Leonard (2018 L5 = 2024 H1)
The following improved orbital elements, by S. Nakano, are from 219 observations 2018 to 2024. Perturbations by Mercury to Neptune and three minor planets, Ceres, Pallas and Vesta, were taken into account. The mean residual is +/- 0.56 arc second. This is a revised orbit for NK 5203 with delta-T correction there. The comet has passed 0.40 AU and 0.37 AU from Jupiter on 1978 July 19 and 2014 Sept. 25 UT, respectively. No identical object in the past, but there is a possible identification with 1937 BG (single observation) which were residuals of +0.39 and -0.01 deg with delta-T correction = +3.7 days.
